Project Description

Together with Video production company Doga Films we developed this short title animation to celebrate the brand new sponsor partnership between Replay and Aston Martin Cognizant Formula 1 Team.

The client asked for a macro scale detailed animation showing single realistic threads surfing through denim fabric and gradually forming the whole logo composition.

The animation had to be condensed in a maximum of 15 seconds, therefore we decided to work with very quick camera takes at various zoom levels.

The most challenging part was creating realistic close-up denim fabric and yarn materials; for this purpouse I studied how denim is created and how its yarns are sewed together in order to obtain a believable jeans pattern from both very close and distant scale. I ended up using a very large macro denim picture from which I obtained in Photoshop displacement, roughness, and bump maps to use in Redshift renderer as channels of the PBR material.

For this project I was in charge of all the phases: concept and style develoment, storyboarding, modeling, texturing, animations and final rendering. Doga Films provided general supervision and Sound Fx.
